Project:
UST Involvement |
Removal of
USTs, Site Assessment and Part 213 Work
|
DESCRIPTION:
|
A Phase 1 ESA revealed that the
property had operated as a machine shop and foundry for several
years; an elevated concentration of lead was detected in soil
samples collected by another consultant two years previous;
three (3) out of service UST systems existed on the property and
MDEQ had specified that they must be removed; a drum storage
area, not in secondary containment, existed on the property in
an unpaved area; and the site had operated as a bulk petroleum
storage facility in the past. Retained by client to achieve the
goal. Contacted MISS DIG to demarcate all subsurface
appurtenances on site. Retained contractor and removed two 6000
gallon capacity USTs and one 4000 gallon capacity USTs and their
associated piping from the above referenced site. Collected
samples beneath the floor ends where each tank had laid.
Samples collected for VOCs were prepared via Method 5035. All
samples were maintained at <4 degrees Centigrade and kept in a
cooler to maintain integrity. The samples were delivered under
chain of custody, along with a trip blank, to a qualified
independent laboratory for analysis. Based on lab results
obtained, the client filed a confirmed release on the site.
Installed monitoring wells and advanced soil borings to collect
samples for analysis to delineate the extent of contamination on
the site. Determined groundwater flow and velocity and obtained
well logs of the surrounding wells within two miles of the
subject site. |
