Subsurface Site Investigation
 

DESCRIPTION:

A Court Order issued a directive that an environmental assessment be performed on the above referenced property to identify any reasonable suspicion of dumping, depositing and/or disposing of any non-native material on the above referenced property.  The purpose of the investigation was to determine if foundry waste was illegally disposed within an area identified by the property owner as one of the locations where he visually observed unauthorized dumping. Retained by Court.  Reviewed MDEQ records on the property and performed a site reconnaissance.  Sent notification to MDEQ within time constraints that work was about to begin on the property.  Contacted MISS DIG to identify and demarcate subsurface appurtenances on the site.  Prepared a site specific HASP for the project.  Established a decontamination area constructed of a wood frame with plastic vinyl interior.  All washings were drummed and properly disposed along with soil cuttings. Designed a sampling plan that was a 3-dimensional staggered biased sampling plan based upon MDEQ’s Soil Verification Specifications. Contracted a hollow stem auger driller and collected samples. Properly preserved samples and submitted with trip blank to a qualified lab for analysis. Assessed analytical data via RBCA and MDEQ Criteria. Reported confirming evidence that foundry waste existed on site.
